COACH FOR IMPACT!  ™ Expert Interviews: How To Prepare For Your Interview

Thanks for expressing interest in our Expert Coaching Interview series and we look forward to your participation!

To make your appearance on our show as smooth, relaxing and valuable as possible for you as well as entertaining and valuable for our listeners, we have prepared this short guide.

1. What to Expect

We're focused on coaches and the coaching industry so we are looking for business, market and skill sets related topics and guests that speak to these topics. And while the interviewers may at times challenge a guest or work to tease out an opinion or viewpoint, we never engage in uncivil dialogues nor do we engineer  "ambush" interviews.

We'll provide the opening segment, the guiding structure and framework as well as the fills and transitions when necessary -- this frees you up to simply bring your expertise and personality so that you can relax and shine.

2. Pre-interview Scheduling & Arrangements

Prior to the actual interview we'll schedule a date-time and discuss a primary topic or multiple topics as well as request the details of your bio or profile and how you would like to be introduced.

3. Interview Equipment & Procedures

Due to technical issues and logistics, we prefer to hold our interviews over Skype due to its availability and the stability of the platform. Experience has taught us that you'll need to find a quiet place (no ambient or background noise), a good internet connection and use a mic-headset.

Please do not use the built-in mike that is found on many laptops, netbooks and even some desktops as our experience has shown us that your voice will sound tinny if not muddled and will lose much of its presentation value and effectiveness.

After we connect on Skype during our pre-interview discussion, we ask that you then and only then turn off the ringer on your mobile phone and land line -- do not do this UNTIL we have connected on Skype as we may need to reach you by your mobile or land line prior to that.

Once on Skype please set your status to "Do not disturb"

To ensure that Skype runs well and that you encounter no CPU, memory or bandwidth glitches or issues, it's best to do a cold boot prior to the interview -- that is, shutdown or turn off your pc and then after it spools down, turn it back on for a complete and fresh boot.

Note: On some Windows boxes this may take a long time from shutdown to cold boot, so please plan accordingly.

If a cold-boot is not possible, please close as many windows/programs as you can, especially the ever-distracting email app as well as Facebook, Twitter and other social media apps. However, please leave your browser open in case you need to reference materials or we ask you to surf with us together.

Additionally, for now, the default interviews are recorded in audio only. That is, while we will be able to see each other visually during the interview, we will only capture the audio feed/channels for publication.

Therefore, please prepare for an audio-only interview as we talk (although we'll be able to see each other).

In the future, we expect to add video feeds to our lineup.

4. Post-Editing Production And Release

Don't worry about flubs or other mistakes. For our pre-recorded interviews, we can edit out or mask these flubs or mistakes.

Once the post-editing is done, pre-rolls and post-rolls are added. We'll then build a professional profile for you complete with your bio, headshot, topics covered, take away notes and the audio feeds (or video feeds where relevant) encoded for both desktop and mobile device consumption.

We'll also notify you when it's released and point you to the specific url so that you may share it with the appropriate parties or so that you may combine it with your company's own marketing or promotional efforts.

Thanks and we look forward to having you on the show soon!
